CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Google has launched Gemini 4 Argon, its leading artificial intelligence system designed for sophisticated professional applications. The company announced Argon on Sept. 30 as the flagship model within the Gemini 4 series. It is capable of supporting intricate software development, financial analysis, legal research, and cybersecurity operations. The model also excels at processing extended sequences of reasoning and execution. Currently, access remains restricted, with select cybersecurity professionals utilizing Argon through the Fairwind Program.

Argon significantly raises the maximum token output to 1 million, a notable jump from the previous limit of 64,000 tokens. This enhancement enables the model to handle longer tasks without breaking them into multiple sessions. The introductory API pricing begins at $2 per million input tokens, while output tokens are priced at $10 per million during the initial phase. Cached inputs benefit from a 95% discount. Future pricing adjustments are expected to increase costs to $4 for input and $20 for output tokens.
Currently, thousands of employees at Google are leveraging Argon for programming, research, and content creation tasks. Internal teams have tested the AI on projects such as data center optimization and large-scale software migrations. One initiative utilized Argon agents to assist with transitioning C and C++ codebases to Rust. Another project focused on memory profiling across data centers, resulting in the liberation of over 300 tebibytes of memory. Additional savings have been identified through ongoing analysis of these systems.
Enhanced capabilities for extensive technical workloads
Google reported a 77.9% score for Argon on DeepSWE v1.1, a benchmark assessing performance in extended software engineering tasks. The company also published results related to finance, legal processes, automation, and multimodal functions. Argon is part of the larger Gemini model family, developed by Google DeepMind, which integrates coding tools with long-context reasoning and multimodal features. Its expanded output capacity is tailored for projects requiring multiple interconnected steps before completion.
Cybersecurity remains a key focus in the initial deployment. Argon can detect, verify, and address software vulnerabilities within authorized defensive environments. Wiz is utilizing the model through its Scan for Good initiative, which aims to identify security flaws in public infrastructure. Google reported a 68% score on CWE-bench v1, a standard for vulnerability mitigation. Selected security teams also have the option to use Argon without typical cyber guardrails when working on sanctioned defensive security operations.
Limited access during phased deployment
No specific date has been set by Google for the broad public release of Gemini 4 Argon. The company is implementing a phased rollout, collecting feedback from early adopters, and participating in a voluntary U.S. government process that provides pre-release access to advanced AI models. Eventually, the model will be available to developers, enterprise clients, and consumers. Priority access is expected for paid API subscribers and Google AI Ultra users, although an exact launch date has not been announced.
Furthermore, Google confirmed it does not plan to release Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was previously anticipated before the Gemini 4 series. Argon now stands as the flagship offering for demanding reasoning and professional workloads. Other Gemini variants remain accessible for users with different performance and cost requirements. For the time being, Gemini 4 Argon is focused on trusted testers, cybersecurity partners, and limited early-access programs, with wider availability still in development.
